Meet Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff. 

Gatekeepers News can now tell you more about Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruq Yahaya.

General Yahaya’s appointment is coming after the death of the former Army Chief, General Attahiru on May 21 in a plane crash. Born on January 5, 1966, at Sifawa, in present-day Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Major-General Yahaya gained admission into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy, as a member of 37 Regular course on September 27, 1985, and graduated on September 22, 1990. He was then posted to Infantry.

The new Army Chief speaks Arabic, English, Hausa and Spanish languages fluently.

He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History and a Masters Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy.
