JUST IN: Man Slaps President Macron’s Face

President Emmanuel Macron has received a slap on his face.

Gatekeepers News reports that an unknown man has slapped the face of France President Emmanuel Macron during an official visit to southeast France.

In a video circulating on Social Media, President Macron was seen walking up to a barrier on a trip to Tain-l’Hermitage outside the city of Valence before a man slapped him in the face.

Officers immediately intervened and pulled the president away.

Meanwhile, French media has reported that two men have been arrested in the wake of the incident.

Politicians in the country have swiftly condemned the incident.

Shortly after the incident, Prime Minister, Jean Castex told the National Assembly that while democracy meant debate and legitimate disagreement “it must never, in any case, mean violence, verbal aggression, and even less physical attack”.

Also, Far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon tweeted his “solidarity with the President” immediately after the slap.

The far-right leader, Marine Le Pen denounced it in a post, saying “while democratic debate can be bitter, it can never tolerate physical violence”.

President Macron is presently on a tour of France and had just visited a hotel school in Tain-l’Hermitage.
