House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, over the suspension of Twitter.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has summoned the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to appear before the Joint Committee on Justice, Commerce, and Information over the suspension of Twitter.
The Speaker announced this during the plenary session on Tuesday.
Gbajabiamila said the Joint Committee will investigate the process that led to the suspension of the microblogging platform.
He, however, noted that the House will have to listen to the government before taking any action.
The Joint Committee was given 10 days to conduct the investigation and report back to the lawmakers.
Gatekeepers News, on Friday, reported that the federal government announced the suspended Twitter operations in Nigeria.
