Federal Government of Nigeria says Twitter has reached out for dialogue.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said the management of the microblogging platform, Twitter has reached out to the government for negotiations.
Mohammed made this known while addressing the State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, which was chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
The Minister said the reports of Twitter’s huge financial losses which are running into billions, show the suspension has been very effective.
He maintained that Twitter has been a platform of choice for separatists to thrive and would be prohibited from operating until it is duly registered, licensed, and operates within regulations.
When asked about the law under which Nigerians who violate the Twitter suspension would be prosecuted, the Minister was unable to provide an answer, noting that the Attorney General of the Federation will provide the answers.
