Police have fired teargas at protesters in Gudu, Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that police have fired teargas to disband protesters in Gudu, Abuja as the nation marks her Democracy Day on June 12.
The protesters had earlier barricaded the Gudu Junction in their numbers carrying placards and banners with various inscriptions to protest the state of the country.
Part of their demands was the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.
The Gudu protesters decried that the president has failed in addressing the challenges in the country, including insecurity.
Some of the leaders of the protest were Social Activists Omoyele Sowore and Deji Adeyanju.
However, as the protesters continued, heavily armed policemen stormed the scene and shot teargas into the air to disperse the protest.
Meanwhile, similar protests are ongoing across the nation on Saturday.
However, the popular venue for protests in the nation’s capital, Unity Fountain in Abuja, had not witnessed protesters as of 8:15 am.
In contrast to this, the Millennium Park just opposite the fountain has a few individuals wearing branded T-shirts with the inscription “I Stand With Buhari.”
Gatekeepers News gathered that they were reportedly to later embark on a road walk to celebrate Democracy Day.
