Biden And Putin Meet In Geneva

United States President, Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin met on Wednesday in Geneva.

Gatekeepers News reports that the two leaders have agreed to hold talks on arms control and cybersecurity and also to return their respective ambassadors to their posts.

Wednesday’s talks were the first meeting between the duo since Biden assumed office in January.

Biden stated that: “It was important to meet in person so there could be no mistake about or misrepresentations about what I wanted to communicate. I did what I came to do,” Biden said.

He said:”I told President Putin my agenda is not against Russia or anybody else. It’s for the American people.”

The U.S President told reporters that he “talked about the proposition that certain critical infrastructure should be off limits to attack, period. By cyber or any other means.”

Gatekeepers News reports that when asked if there will be consequences for further cybersecurity attacks against the US, Biden said “he knows there are consequences,” Biden said of Putin. “He knows I will take action.”

Biden described the tone of the meetings as “positive” as there were no “threats” during the summit.

“I must tell you, the tone of the entire meeting, I guess it was a total of four hours, it was good. Positive.”

After the summit, Putin said there was “no hostility” during the “constructive” summit and Biden described the talks as “positive”, as the two leaders held separate press conferences.

Putin while briefing  reporters, noted that Biden raised human rights issues with him, including the fate of the imprisoned opposition leader Alexey Navalny and the treatment of protesters in Russia.
