All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Appeal Court judgment on the Ondo 2020 Governorship election.
Gatekeepers News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, South-West, Nigeria has commended Wednesday’s Court of Appeal judgement on the 2020 Gubernatorial Elections describing it as an affirmation of the people’s decision.
The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election in the state, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the election.
The state tribunal had earlier struck out the petition of the PDP candidate for lack of merit but Jegede approached the appellate court to challenge the verdict of the tribunal.
The appeal court, having examined the seven grounds of appeal tabled by the appellant, dismissed the appeal, saying it lacked merit.
The party congratulated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, on their victory at the appellate Court.
Chairman of the State Caretaker Committee, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, in a statement, decried what he termed “legal distraction”.
Adetinmehin accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of plunging the State into an unnecessary distraction.
He urged Jegede, to consider the interest of the state and suspend further legal actions.
He invited Jegede to join the APC owing to the number of factories built across the state to trigger economic activities.
