Kamala Harris Talks Infrastructure At Pittsburgh Visits

United States Vice President Kamala Harris has visited Pittsburgh.

Gatekeepers News reports that the United States Vice President Kamala Harris has made her first trip to Pittsburgh on Monday.

The Vice President on her visit talked about infrastructure on the South Side and lauded the child tax credit.

Harris who started the day in Brookline before ending on the South Side was welcomed by leaders and politicians, including U.S. Senator Bob Casey.

Casey said, “I welcomed her to Pittsburgh. We’re always grateful.”

Her trip had a two-fold mission of promoting the new and expanded child tax credit and efforts to promote union organising.

The Vice President said, “In many ways, it is about addressing not only what we must do to reinforce the right of collective bargaining but also what we need to do to address the barriers that stand in the way of workers organizing.”

On the South Side, Harris and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh took part in a roundtable discussion at the IBEW hall as part of the task force on worker organising and empowerment.

Due to the visit, some streets within the city were closed, while others saw rolling closures as the motorcade moved around the area.

On March 31, U.S. President Joe Biden originally went to Pittsburgh to unveil a $2.3 trillion plan in what he billed as “a once-in-a-generation investment in America”, which was also to undo tax cuts for corporations under Biden’s predecessor, Republican Donald Trump.

Later in April, Biden went to Philadelphia’s William H. Gray III 30th Street Station to celebrate Amtrak’s 50th anniversary and his plan’s aid for rail service.

Although Biden is hoping for a deal with Republicans who are resisting his big ideas and trimming the potential spending, he is also trying to assure Democrats that he will not leave behind their priorities.
