Gatekeepers News reports that de Vries who is known for investigating the criminal underworld was said to have been shot in his head and body on Tuesday evening, shortly after leaving a TV studio, where he had appeared on a chat show.
According to Police, the 64-year-old journalist and TV presenter was shot up to five times at a close range.
Gatekeepers News gathered that three persons had been arrested but later said one was no longer a suspect.
Two men; a 35-year-old Polish national living in Maurik and a 21-year-old man living in Rotterdam were arrested in a car on the A4 motorway at Leidschendam. They will be made to appear in court on Friday.
While an 18-year-old that was earlier arrested in Amsterdam has been released.
Mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema, described de Vries as “a national hero to us all” and as “a rare, courageous journalist who tirelessly sought justice”.
De Vries is currently fighting for his life at the hospital.
