Haiti President Jovenel Moise Assassinated

Haitian President, Jovenel Moise has been assassinated in his home.

Gatekeepers News reports that he was killed by a group of unidentified individuals who attacked his private residence overnight on Wednesday.

The first lady has been hospitalised after she suffered bullet wounds during the attack.

Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph confirmed the incident and noted that he is now in charge of the country.

Joseph further condemned the “inhumane and barbaric act”, as he called for calm, saying the police and the country’s armed forces had taken control of the security situation.

Gatekeepers News reports that  Moise had been ruling Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, by decree after legislative elections due in 2018 were delayed and following disputes on when his own term ended.
