VIDEO: Edo Whistleblower Reveals Dilapidated Primary School

Edo State whistleblower has decried the deplorable state of Orere Primary School Igarra.

Gatekeepers News reports that a citizen of Edo State, Southern Nigeria, Paul Alaba Lawani, popularly known as Paulson Great, has decried the deplorable state of Orere Primary School, Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.

Paulson Great, who has earned the reputation of a whistleblower in a live Facebook video, lamented the deplorable state of the school. He said the state of the school was so bad that even “pigs are not to supposed to be trained in open places.”

Paulson Great, in the video, stated that “our leaders are abductors… I understand the situation is everywhere, but it is not this bad, go to every village in Akoko Edo, you will see something as bad as this, … go to every nook and cranny of Akoko Edo, you will see some things that are worse than this…”

He also noted that he had written severally to the state government regarding this, but the school has continued to go from bad to worse.

Gatekeepers News reached out to Paulson Great to show proof of the letters he allegedly wrote to the state government, but at the time of filing this report, he has not responded.

Gatekeepers News contacted the state government through the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Barrister Jimoh Ijegbai. He was the immediate past Commissioner for Education in the state since the state currently operates without commissioners.

Ijegbai stated that he was not able to speak on the matter since that was within the purview of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

All efforts to reach the Chairperson of SUBEB proved abortive at the time of filling in this report.

Paulson Great was the whistleblower who reported in a viral video the construction of road and drainage on Lawani street in Igarra Edo State with sub-standard materials. In a report filed by Gatekeepers News, Paulson Great lamented the poor construction job on the road facilitated by Hon. Peter Akpatason, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

Hon. Peter Akpatason had stated in his rejoinder to Gatekeepers News that the materials used in the ongoing construction of the Igarra road, Akoko-Edo, Edo State, were “not substandard”.

The Edo State Government, through the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on inspection of the road, asserted that the materials used were inferior, adding that the state government has taken over the construction of the road.
