Haiti: It Happened In A Blink Of An Eye - Moise's Wife Speaks
Martine Moise, wife of assassinated Haitian President Jovenel Moise said the attack that killed her husband and left her in a critical condition happened “in the blink of an eye”.

Gatekeepers News reports that Saturday was the first time Martine spoke after gunmen stormed their home in Port-au-Prince and killed her 53-year-old husband in the early hours of Wednesday.

Martine, in an audio message she posted on her official Twitter account on Saturday, urged Haiti not to “lose its way”.

“I am alive, thanks to God,” said Martine who was rushed to a Haitian hospital after the attack and was later evacuated to Miami, Florida, for more treatment.

“I am alive but I have lost my husband Jovenel,” she added.

“In the blink of an eye, the mercenaries entered my home and riddled my husband with bullets … without even giving him a chance to say a word.”

She added that the assassins were sent to kill her husband “because of roads, water, electricity and referendum as well as elections at the end of the year so that there is no transition in the country”.

“I am crying, it is true, but we cannot let the country lose its way,” Martine Moise said. “We cannot let his blood … have been spilled in vain.”

Haitian authorities have described the incidence as “a highly coordinated attack by a highly trained and heavily armed group”.

Haitian authorities stated that an armed commando of 28 men which consist of 26 Colombians and two Haitian-Americans stormed and opened fire on the couple in their home.

Gatekeepers News had reported that a total of seventeen people have been arrested so far and at least three suspects were killed. The motive behind the attack has not to be disclosed yet.
