Miriam Olusanya Appointed As New GTBank MD

Miriam Olusanya has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).

Gatekeepers News reports that Olusanya’s appointment was announced in a notice signed by the bank’s secretary, Erhi Obebeduo, and sent to the Nigerian Exchange Group Limited (NGX).

The bank also announced the successful completion of its re-organization into a Holding Company Structure, in a bid to strengthen its long-term competitiveness and growth prospects.

The bank, as part of the conditions for the re-organization, announced that a new operating company bearing the name ‘Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc’ (GTCo) has been established. A new Board of Directors as well as changes to the Board of its banking subsidiary (GTBank) was also announced.

According to the notice, the Board was reconstituted following the retirement of about four Directors.

Hence, the GTCo’s Board will comprise of the following personalities: Sola Oyinlola (Chairman), Segun Agbaje (Group CEO), Cathy Echeozo (Non-Executive Director), Helen Bouygues (Independent Non-Executive Director) and Adebanji Adeniyi (Executive Director).

While the banking subsidiary (GTBank) Board will comprise of Ibrahim Hassan (Chairman), Miriam Olusanya (Managing Director), Olabode Agusto (Non-Executive Director), Imponi Akpofure (Independent Non-Executive Director), Victoria Adefala (Independent Non-Executive Director), Jide Okuntola (Deputy Managing Director) and Haruna Musa (Executive Director).

Profile of Miriam Olusanya – (Managing Director)

Miriam Olusanya has over 23 years of banking experience that cuts across Transaction Services, Asset and Liability Management, Financial Markets, Investment Banking and Investor Relations.

She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Master of Business Administration (Finance and Accounting) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Olusanya has also attended several executive management and banking speci developmental programs in leading educational institutions around the world.

The new MD serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia) Limited. She is also a member of the Financial Markets Sub Committee of the Bankers‘ Committee, the primary interactive policy platform made up of the Central Bank of Nigeria and banks.

Olusanya was the Group Treasurer and Head, Wholesale Banking Division, responsible for balance sheet and financial markets activities of the Bank and its African subsidiaries, Corporate Finance as well as Investor Relations.

She joined GTBank as an Executive Trainee and rose through the ranks until her appointment as Executive Director in 2018, a position she held until her appointment as Managing Director.
