EFCC Recovers N507 Million From Adenuga’s Ex-Secretary

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered N507 million from the former Secretary of Mike Adenuga.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has confirmed that N507 million has been recovered from Nora Olumide Johnson, former secretary to the Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga.

The Sierra Leonean woman in a viral video earlier accused Adenuga of abandoning her after their 30years of dating, adding that her decision to leave the relationship led to her grilling by EFCC.

According to a source from EFCC, Johnson was involved in a case of multi-million naira fraud against her former employers, Globacom, and her co-conspirators.

Johnson accused the Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga, of being behind her travails with the EFCC. In contrast, the anti-graft agency was acting on court orders to confiscate her house following over N1 billion alleged fraud while at Globacom.

According to reports, while Johnson refunded N100 million on her involvement in the fraud to the EFCC, some of her conspirators repaid N400 million. In contrast, one of them refunded N7 million on behalf of her.

Johnson, however, refused to pay the expected balance, which led to her present predicament.

She came into public consciousness days back when she did a video wailing about the confiscation of her house.

Presiding Judge, Federal High Court, Lagos Division, Justice A. Lewis Allagoa, had ordered that the EFCC take possession of all properties and bank accounts owned by Johnson and five others.

EFCC had charged her to court and subsequently led to the interim forfeiture of her assets on the order of Justice A.M. Liman on February 16, 2021.

On March 21, 2021, the defendant and the other respondents: Babajide Aremu Johnson, Olabose Ibrahim Falobi, Steve Nnamdi Izebu, Steve Ibem, and Bakoliza Limited, went to court to suspend or stay execution on Justice Liman’s order.

They had sought for an order to discharge the interim order of forfeiture of assets, an order terminating the final forfeiture, and any other orders as deemed fit by the court.

In his judgment after hearing J.O. Adeyemi, Counsel for the Applicant/Respondent, and V.C. Nwokafor Counsel for the 1st, 2nd, and 6th Respondents/Applicants, Justice Allagoa ordered that the motion of Johnson and the other respondents, dated March 12, 2021, be set aside.

The judgment, delivered on July 14, 2021, read further: “That the order of Justice Liman stands in all its ramifications” and “That the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is entitled to take possession of all that property subject of the Order of my Lord A.M. Liman on the 16th day of February 2021.”
