Army Names Office After Ex-COAS Attahiru

Nigerian Army has named a new office accommodation after ex-COAS Attahiru.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigerian Army has named a new office accommodation at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, North East, Nigeria, after the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

Incumbent COAS, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya inaugurated the office complex at the headquarters of the Joint Task Force in the Northeast, Operation Hadin Kai.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.

He said: “…Lt.-Gen. Yahaya has commissioned a newly constructed office accommodation at the Headquarters, Joint Task Force, Northeast, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

“…The COAS stated that the new facility provides befitting offices to meet the demands of the recent expansion and restructuring of …Operation Hadin Kai. He explained that the facility would provide a conducive environment for the staff officers and administrative workers to perform their duties in the theatre.

“The COAS warm-heartedly disclosed that the complex was christened after Lt.-Gen. Attahiru to honour him for his contribution and sacrifice towards the uplifting of the Nigerian Army.

“The structure, as described by the cantonment maintenance officer, Major Suleiman, can accommodate eight staff officers and other supporting workers. The new office accommodation consists of six medium-size en-suite offices, two executive size en-suite offices, two Personal Assistants’ offices, and two offices for administrative workers.

“Dignitaries at the occasion were the Chief of Operations Army, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Akinjobi; Theatre Commander, OPHK, Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa; Provost Marshal Army, Maj.-Gen. Olumuyiwa Aiyenigba; Chief of Military Intelligence (Army) Brig.-Gen. Danladi Salihu, Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division/Commander Sector 1, OPHK, Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, Component Commanders OPHK and Principal Staff Officers, amongst others.”
