Four Bethel Students Escape From Abductors

Four Bethel students have escaped from abductors den.

Gatekeepers News reports that four more abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state, have escaped from the kidnappers’ den.

The Chairman of the Kaduna chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), John Hayab, confirmed this development on Monday.

Hayab said, “Yes, another four students escaped from their abductors on Sunday, July 25, and have been reunited with their parents.”

This brings the total number of students who have regained their freedom after the school’s kidnapping incident to 38.

Despite the latest development, the CAN Chairman said 83 students are still in captivity.

On July 5, a total of 121 students were abducted when bandits invaded the school.

Gatekeepers News reported that Bandits released 28 of the abducted students on Sunday and have since reunited with their parents.

On July 12, one of the students, Abraham Aniya was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims who were kidnapped by bandits.

Meanwhile, two other students who were tasked by their captors to go and fetch firewood from a nearby forest escaped on July 20.

President of Kaduna Baptist Conference, Ishaya Jangado stated that the remaining students who are still in captivity will be released in batches.

After the first batch of 28 students were released, Jangado said, “I have been talking with the bandits and they told me that the children would be released in batches and they have released the first batch of 28.”
