NSCDC Rescues Abandoned Day-old Child In Kwara

Operatives of the NSCDC have rescued an abandoned day-old child in Kwara state.

Gatekeepers News reports that operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have rescued a day old baby girl abandoned in a dumpsite at Patigi rural community in Patigi local government area of Kwara State, North Central, Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement by NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi.

He said the baby girl was rescued alive in Dokoyirigi compound, Patigi and was in a safe condition at Patigi General Hospital.

He noted that the timely arrival of an operative of the Civil Defence Corps of the Kwara State Command saved the life of the day old baby girl.

“In the early hours of Friday, 06/08/2021, one of our officers at the Patigi Divisional Office, who was on her way to office discovered an unidentified baby girl that was later discovered to be a day old.

The baby was left in a stinking dump site located around Dokoyirigi area of the town.” The statement read in part.

He disclosed further that the baby was already becoming unconscious and was later taken to the general hospital in Patigi where she was promptly attended to and her medical condition was stabilized.

Afolabi said that effort was ongoing to track the mother of the girl who perpetrated a wicked act that left a day old baby in such a dehumanized condition, adding that when is arrested she would be prosecuted.

He said that a staff of the hospital identified as Tsado Racheal had signified intention to adopt the baby after all the necessary and proper documentation and actions might have been formalized.
