Time’s Up Head Quit Over Cuomo Ties

Roberta Kaplan, leader of gender equality group Time’s Up, has resigned after a report alleged that she tried to discredit a woman who accused New York Governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment.

Gatekeepers News reports that the report by Attorney General Letitia James’s office last week found that Kaplan reviewed a draft of an unpublished op-ed letter that was aimed at attacking the character of Lindsey Boylan, a former aide to Cuomo who was the first to publicly accuse him of sexual harassment.

The reports also found that Cuomo, who has declared his decision to resign from his position, “sexually harassed multiple women, many of whom were young women, by engaging in unwanted groping, kisses, hugging and by making inappropriate comments.”

Kaplan, in her resignation letter, said: “Unfortunately, recent events have made it clear that even our apparent allies in the fight to advance women can turn out to be abusers.

“We have felt the raw, personal and profound pain of that betrayal.”

Kaplan’s resignation came after past supporters of Time’s Up penned an open letter on Monday calling for an investigation, stating that the group’s leaders “align themselves with abusers at the expense of survivors”.

Gatekeepers News had reported that Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa also announced her resignation on Sunday.
