Kanye West has continued to make history by breaking the record for the most-watched Apple Music event in history.
Gatekeepers News reports that Kanye’s second DONDA listening party which was streamed by nearly 6 million viewers topped Apple Music charts.
This surpassed the previous record of over 3 million viewers which was set by Kanye’s first DONDA live stream event on July 23.
Before this was Jeezy and Gucci Mane’s Verzuz battle in November 2020 whose record was just under two million views.
Billboard noted that the total is more than double the current live stream record on Twitch and currently approaches the 2020 Primetime Emmys, whose audience were 6.1 million people across the U.S. last September, which made it one of the biggest live stream events in the past year.
According to reports, the DONDA listening party generated over 1.1 million tweets at its peak, which outpaced Twitter activity for the 2020 MTV VMAs.
Meanwhile, there’s another release date for Kanye West’s DONDA album, and there are rumors of more production delays.
The original live event was meant to be the launch of West’s 10th studio album, “Donda,” but it didn’t appear. It was then believed to be released the following day, July 23. Sources, however, disclosed it was moved to August 6, and later moved to August 7.
Reports also revealed then that West was still working on the album.
Meanwhile, Apple’s iTunes Store is now advertising the forthcoming “Donda” album as being released on August 13.
