Lagos State Government says the vaccination against COVID-19 will resume on Wednesday.
Gatekeepers News reports that Governor of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the vaccination against COVID-19 will resume on Wednesday in the State with the administration of Moderna vaccine.
The Governor while giving updates on the fight against the virus, said about 299,000 out of the 601,000 doses of the Moderna vaccines promised to the state have been received from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu added that in other to avoid crowds at the vaccination centres, centres have also been increased from 88 to 150 across the state.
The Governor, however, lamented the rise in fatalities, stating that the death percentage rose from 1.1 per cent in June and 7 per cent in July to 12.1 per cent in August.
According to him, 506 deaths have been recorded so far, while 135 have been recorded during the third wave.
Sanwo-Olu noted that there are plans to increase the oxygen production capacity to about 1,000 cylinders per day.
He, therefore, assured that the second batch of Astrazeneca vaccine was expected in one week and warned against combining the two types of vaccines.
The Governor added, “Let me also reiterate that this Moderna vaccine should not be mixed with the AstraZeneca vaccine. What this means is that only persons who have not been previously vaccinated at all should take the Moderna vaccine.
“If you have previously taken one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, please exercise patience as we await delivery of a fresh allocation from the Federal Government.”
