President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed Nigeria’s U20 athletes for their outstanding achievements in Kenya.
Gatekeepers News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigerian athletes on their outstanding achievements at the recently concluded World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.
Buhari applauded the team in a statement signed by his spokesman, Femi Adesina on Monday.
President Buhari has commended the team and their handlers who by the dint of hardwork and perseverance showcased to the world that Nigeria is blessed with some of the best talents in the world of sport.
Team Nigeria has brought home four gold and three bronze medals to finish third on the final medals table of the competition.
The President, therefore, believes that Nigeria’s sports ambassadors in Nairobi and the entire contingent have every reason to celebrate their well-deserved laurels while putting the track and field world on notice of their intentions to surpass their achievements in the nearest future.
He also appreciated the victorious athletes for flying the country’s flag high at the competition, breaking new records from personal bests and national records all the way to championship records.
President Buhari, therefore, joined all Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s patriots for reinforcing the can-do and resilient spirit of the citizens at the Championships.
