Nigeria has recorded 565 New COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths.
Gatekeepers News reports that Nigeria has recorded 565 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths on Monday, August 23, bringing the number of confirmed infections in the country to 187,588.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this in its daily report.
In the report, Lagos recorded the highest infections with 205 new cases, while Rivers followed with 73 cases, Ondo-63, FCT-53, Oyo-53, Ekiti-37, Delta-24, Edo-20, and Benue-12.
Others include Bayelsa-6, Kwara-6, Osun-6, Ogun-5, and Adamawa-2.
NCDC stated that today’s report includes a backlog of cases from Benue state reported on the August 17 – (7), August 18 – (1) and August 19 – (4).
Since the outbreak on February 27, 2020, a total of 2,276 persons have lost their lives to the virus while 168,818 have recovered and have been discharged.
