I Will Contest For PDP Chairmanship – Oyinlola

Former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola has declared his interest in contesting for the National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gatekeepers News reports that the PDP chieftain and former National Secretary of the party said his contest in the chairmanship position of the party will be on two conditions.

Oyinlola stated that for him to contest the position has to be zoned to the South West and he must also be able to muster the stakeholders of the party.

While speaking on a radio current affairs programme in Osogbo to mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of Osun State on Wednesday, the former governor revealed he is more prepared to serve in the office of PDP National Chairman.

Oyinlola added that this is because he has garnered a decade of cumulative experience in governance both as military administrator of Lagos State and third civilian governor of Osun State.

He, however, accused those using his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 to attack him as cheap blackmailers.

Oyinlola noted that he left the PDP because the party drove him away by engineering his removal.

According to him, a plan was concocted because President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan wanted to run for a second term in 2015.

The former Commander of the Nigerian military contingent to Somalia said his records stood for him because he had served in two states in Nigeria without being found wanting.

Oyinlola stated that for such positions it is only capacity, capability, and integrity that mattered.
