Department of State Services (DSS) has released eight of Igboho’s 12 aides.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has released eight of the 12 aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, in its custody.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, the lawyer to the detainees, confirmed their release at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
The detained Igboho’s associates have spent 61 days in the custody of the security agency after they were arrested by security operatives in early July.
The eight persons released on Monday, August 30 are Abdullateef Onaolapo, Tajudeen Irinloye, Diekola Ademola, Ayobami Donald, Uthman Adelabu, Olakunle Oluwapelumi, Raji Kazeem, and Taiwo Tajudeen.
The DSS, however, detained four persons, which was contrary to the court order that granted bail to the entire 12 associates of the Yoruba Nation agitator in the custody of the security agency.
Those held back by the DSS include Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday.
Olajengbesi while briefing reporters on the development, insisted that all his clients must be released in accordance with the order of the court, having fulfilled all the requirements for their bail.
He also asked the security agency to give account for the two aides who were killed during the raid of the Yoruba Nation agitator’s house in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Gatekeepers News earlier reported DSS raided Igboho’s house in Ibadan, Oyo State on July 1, killed two of his associates, and arrested 13.
Afterwards, DSS declared Igboho wanted, paraded 12 associates, and noted that one was being profiled.
The DSS, however, presented just 12 to the Federal High Court in Abuja.
On August 4, Justice Obiora granted bail to all the 12 aides, but the DSS filed an application for the appeal of the court order.
The court, however, struck out the suit filed by the DSS seeking to further detain four of the 12 aides of Igboho.
Despite this, the security agency has only released eight of the 12 detained persons.
