Buhari Meets Security Chiefs

Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor has paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari to submit briefing on the security situation of the coutry. 

Gatekeepers News reports that Irabor and other Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and other heads of security agencies met with the president today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Also at the meeting are the Ministers of Defence, Bashir Magashi; Justice, Abubakar Malami; Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina who posted on Facebook, wrote that “President Buhari receives Security Briefing in State House on 7th Sep 2021.”

The meeting was held to address the banditry, kidnapping, and killings that have escalated in the country.

Recently, schools are being attacked with hundreds of students kidnapped for huge amounts of ransom being demanded from parent

An estimated 1,000 students have been taken in similar raids since December 2020, though most were released after negotiations.

In a bid to fight banditry, telecom companies are requested to suspend operations in some areas.

Some states have also introduced restrictions on motorcycle traffic, cattle trading, and fuel sales.
