Gatekeepers News reports that the Prince of Wales has announced through his official Twitter handle that the Duchess of Cornwall is now a Patron of Mirabel Centre in Nigeria.

Mirabel Centre is Nigeria’s first sexual assault referral centre.

A Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Nigeria provides medical and psychosocial support to survivors of sexual violence.

The centre was founded in July 2013 by Itoro Eze-Anaba.

In a statement on his official Twitter page, he said, “ I am delighted to become the patron of Mirabel Centre in Lagos; it’s a genuinely trailblazing organisation, supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault as they seek healing and justice.

“Their vital work means that women no longer suffer in silence, and I am deeply grateful to all Mirabel’s staff and volunteers.”
