Rotary Club of Ikeja last Monday, September 6, 2021, celebrated its 54th anniversary.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Doyen of Rotary club in Nigeria, Past District Governor (PDG) Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi chaired the event which was attended by other Rotarians as well as guests at Lagos Airport Hotel.
PDG Adelusi-Adeluyi eulogised illustrious Rotarians including Chief Anofi Goubadia and Harold Ladipo who allowed the club to hold meetings on his property which currently houses Lagos Airport Hotel where the club still meets weekly.
While congratulating members of the club for celebrating 54 years of existence of the club, which is second to Rotary club of Lagos in District 9110, PDG Adelusi-Adeluyi said that ‘’We are happy keeping to standards in Ikeja and it is time for us to re-prioritise and re-assess the club to make it more relevant and impactful.
“We at Rotary Club of Ikeja are 54, but not tired. We are glad that the club continues to evolve, admitting new members especially younger ones and it continues to be more robust, producing leaders for the district.”
Speaking at the event, Past Presidents of the Club, Bimtan Famutimi and Boye Ogunlaja urged the leaders of the club to document the history of the club to tell a good story about the club.
In his speech, the Change Maker President, Rotarian Gbenga Badejo, FCA congratulated members of the club on the 54th Anniversary and enjoined them, “to sustain the legacies of our club, as we strive to be more relevant in the society.”
