U.S Millionaire Robert Durst Found Guilty Of Killing Best Friend

United States Multimillionaire real estate heir Robert Durst has been found guilty of killing his best friend Susan Berman.

Gatekeepers News reports that Durst shot Berman, 55, in the back of her head inside her Beverly Hills home in 2000 to prevent her from talking to police about his wife’s disappearance.

Late Berman was a crime writer and had acted as a spokesperson for Durst when he became a suspect in his wife’s disappearance. Durst’s wife Kathleen McCormack who was a medical student went missing in 1982 and is presumed dead.

The trial came six years after Durst’s apparent confession was aired in the HBO television documentary series “The Jinx”. In The Jinx’s final part, Durst was heard saying to himself: “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”

Authorities arrested Durst in New Orleans for Berman’s murder, hours before the last episode aired.

Prosecutors, who called Durst a “narcissistic psychopath”, argued that he murdered three people, the third being an elderly neighbour, Morris Black, who discovered Durst’s identity in 2001 while he was hiding out in Texas.

Durst, 78, was however acquitted of murdering Black, after he successfully maintained that he had killed him on the grounds of self-defence before cutting up the body.

His brother Douglas Durst, who testified at the trial, told the court: “He’d like to murder me.”

Gatekeepers News reports that Durst is due to be sentenced on 18 October.
