South Africa have defeated Nigeria to lift the Aisha Buhari Cup.
Gatekeepers News reports that Banyana Banyana have defeated Super Falcons in a 4-2 thriller to lift the Aisha Buhari Cup at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium on Tuesday.
Alozie Michelle’s goal put the Banyana Banyanas in front after five minute. Afterwards, Motlhalo Linda’s spot-kick doubled the South Africans lead.
Although Desire Oparanozie successfully converted Asisat Oshoala’s well worked effort in the 20th minute, it was disallowed for offside.
The Super Falcons, who were focused on getting a goal pressed forward and left their territory unprotected.
Salgado Gabriella maximised the Nigerian female team’s woes with another goal for South Africa as the first half ended 3-0 in favour of the South Africans.
At the beginning of the second half, substitute Vivian Ikechukwu made an instant response by putting in a goal to make the scoreline 3-1.
Another fantastic effort from Ikechukwu reduced the Super Falcons deficit to one.
A 32-yard shot from Ogbonna Glory almost resulted in the leveller but the opposition keeper foiled her attempt.
The Banyana Banyanas got the chance to put the game beyond Nigeria from the penalty spot and Makhabane Mamello stepped forward to score as the game ended 4-1.
