Police Arrest Three Kidnappers Of Bethel Baptist Students

Police have arrested three suspected kidnappers of students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Police Spokesperson, Frank Mba said the Force arrested three out of the 25-man gang that abducted the students.

Mba added that the police has obtained sufficient intelligence to facilitate the arrest of other members of the gang.

The Police Spokesperson while addressing journalists at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, said 47 other suspects were arrested for various offences, including murder, kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery, and car theft.

On July 5, some armed men invaded Bethel Baptist High School and kidnapped a total of 121 students from their hostels.

On July 12, one of the students, Abraham Aniya, was rescued by security operatives alongside two other persons who were abducted along Kaduna-Kachia road.

Two other students who were tasked to go fetch firewood from a nearby forest also escaped on July 20.

The terrorists subsequently said the students would be released in batches.

On July 25, the first set of 28 students was released while two more batches were released on August 27 and September 18.

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that following the release of the most recent batch, 21 students were left in captivity.

Although President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Israel Akanji, earlier said no ransom will be paid to secure the students’ release, reports revealed that the bandits received money to set them free.
