Assaulted Corps Member Finally Breaks Silence

Corps Member who was assaulted by a Nigerian soldier in Calabar, Cross River State Ezeiruaku Ifeyinwa has finally broken her silence on her experience.

Gatekeepers News reports that the assaulted corps member, Ezeiruaku Ifeyinwa said she felt embarrassed after the incident.

Ifeyinwa was recently in the news after a video of a female soldier, Chika Anele bathed her with a bucket of what was said to be dirty water surfaced online.

The incident had generated condemnations from the Nigerian Army, human rights activists, and social media users.

The corps member in a now-viral interview said she has been traumatised since the incident happened.

Ifeyinwa said, “Ever since the incident, I haven’t been myself, the trauma, each time I remember what the lady did to me, I feel embarrassed because she reduced me to nothing and the whole incident makes me feel bad.”

She, however, expressed her excitement at finally departing Calabar for Lagos amid the dust over the incident.

The corps member said, “I am thankful to God for coming out of Calabar. It’s not been easy for me. I have received calls from different people all over Nigeria saying they saw my pictures and the way I was maltreated but I thank God I am back and safe.”

Ifeyinwa who said she was not intimated by military authorities, added that the army was against the female officer’s action.

Although she noted that she has nothing against the officer, Ifeyinwa said she only wants the law to take its course.

The Nigerian army had earlier condemned the soldier’s action, saying she would be sanctioned.
