Nigeria Wins Big At Intercontinental Spelling Bee Competition

Team Nigeria has surmounted all odds to win big at the Intercontinental Spelling Bee competition.

Gatekeepers News reports that Team Nigeria has won big at the final of the 2021 Intercontinental Spelling Bee competition which was held on Friday, September 24, at the Best Western Plus Hotel Deira Creek Dubai.

The Nigerian team which was led by the Executive Director Of Peat Philips Foundation, Akin Olu-Philips, featured in 2 categories, including the Senior and Junior category.

Nigeria came 1st and 3rd in the senior category, courtesy Oni Inioluwa Daniel of the Ambassadors College, Ota who bagged the 1st position while Olujobi Oluwadarasimi Opeyemi of Ambassadors College, Ota, Ogun State came 3rd.

Similarly, Nigeria also dominated the junior category as Pearl Koshi Etika-Matthews Eni Memorial High School, Calabar, Cross Rivers State came 2nd, whilst Nanret Adamu from St. Augustine College, DU, Jos, Plateau State emerged the most promising Speller in the Senior category.

The Nigerian Consulate in Dubai was ably represented by Consul Prince Wale Awolesi who was proud of the team, donated $500 of his personal funds to the over $4,000 left to settle the team’s bill in Dubai.
