Gatekeepers News reports that a Media organisation incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 with the main objective of providing a credible platform for the production and broadcasting of high-quality content for audiences in Nigeria and Africa, with over 400 content hours is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of General Manager.
THE GENERAL MANAGER – OVERVIEW
– The General Manager (GM) is the leader of the organisation, driving the vision for increased productivity that is achieved through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing production staff and volunteers alike, with the support of the Board of Directors.
– The GM is the Chief
Mobilizer, who will leverage the power of relationships and networks as he works across corporate and public sectors to mobilize patronage, sponsorship and advert placement that will ensure profitability and sustainability.
– The GM should be very familiar with the media industry and the internal workings, and have excellent relationship with practitioners both in the conventional and social media space.
– The GM should possess a high level of business and management skills, and be equally effective at generating resources and financial support for the organisation through creative and innovative strategies.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND
The GM is expected to be a Muslim professional with corporate experience and a working knowledge of the tenets of Islam.
The GM should at the minimum have:
– A University Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
– 10 years corporate experience preferably in a service industry and/or exposure to Media, PR and Advertising responsibilities.
– At least 5 years in a marketing role at senior level with profit center responsibility.
– Experience in developing partnerships, building teams, increasing philanthropic support, business patronage and generating revenue.
– Substantial experience in interacting with diverse spectrum of people and volunteers will be a clear advantage.
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES
– Strong relationship skills to facilitate engagement with production team and personalities across different sectors of the society.
– Strong marketing skills to facilitate local and international partnership and collaboration.
– Strong leadership and administrative skills to facilitate effective running of the organisation and its resources, both human and material.
– Knowledge of fundraising and sponsorship strategies unique to the media industry.
