Nigerian Senate has confirmed five nominees for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) board.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Senate on Tuesday confirmed George Abang (secretary), Lukman Mohammed, Anumba Adaeze, Bola Adesina, and Yahaya Mohammed for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) board.
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Committee, Sulieman Kwari, on Tuesday.
Kwari, during the presentation, said all the nominees met the requirements expected of them to hold public office.
In September, President Muhammadu Buhari asked the senate to confirm the nominees and premised his request on section 2 (1) of the law establishing the anti-graft agency.
Buhari had said, “By the provisions of Section 2 (1) of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004, I hereby forward for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed nominees as board members of the EFCC.”
