Gatekeepers News reports that Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-governmental organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting a broad range of global health interventions, education, and economic initiatives in Nigeria.

In anticipation of The Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) project which focuses on “improving basic education and tackling fundamental system constraints by raising the quality of teaching and learning” in key state areas (Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa & Abuja) and to strengthen our operations and interventions in the country.

Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is seeking qualified candidates for the positions below:

Job Title: Technical Officer – Math
Job Title: Community Mobilization / Gender Specialist

Job Title: Technical Officer – Math

Location: Abuja

Responsibilities

The Technical Officer-Math will be responsible for developing and implementing the project’s overall math approach, in conjunction with other FHI 360 technical leads.

H/She will support in developing and revising materials for math instruction, in alignment with the Nigerian curriculum and global best practices as well as engage with designing in-service training materials to improve teacher practices around mathematics.

H/She will also assist in building stakeholder capacity around evidence-based math practices.

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Bachelor’s Degree or its International equivalent in Mathematics Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field, and 5-7 years relevant experience.

Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Mathematics, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field, and 3-5 years relevant experience

2-4 years’ experience with education programs

Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.

Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English, fluency in Hausa or Kanuri highly desired.

Prior team lead experience preferred. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.

International or Domestic (US) Program Development or Program management the preferred.

Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.

Familiarity with Nigerian public sector, NGOs, and CBOs.

Job Title: Community Mobilization / Gender Specialist

Job Description

The Community Mobilization and Gender Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the overarching community mobilization and gender in, inclusion strategy of the project, which will be contextualized as required for Kano, Kaduna, and Jigawa states.

H/She will work closely with the outreach officers to design and implement leadership strategies to promote inclusive education for girls and learners with disabilities.

Will design community mobilizations activities to promote improved enrollment, retention, and learning as well as coordinate community outreach activities.

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Master’s Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, or related discipline with 5-7 years working experience in gender integration at the national or international level.

Expertise in gender analysis, strategic planning, and integrating gender balance into design and management is required.

Experience in dealing with issues of women’s rights and gender mainstreaming within public, institutions and/or international organizations.

Hand-On experience in design, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects.

Preferably a recognized gender expert in the field with firsthand experience working with economic development, gender equality issues, public policy, or social development

Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.

Familiarity with the Nigerian public sector, NGOs, and CBOs.
