United States Mission to Nigeria has advised #EndSARS protesters to resort to a political approach in addressing their demands.
Gatekeepers News reports that the US has reflected on today, October 20 as a memorial for lives and property which were lost on this day in 2020.
The US in a Facebook post on Wednesday also expressed support for the ongoing police reforms happening in Nigeria.
The post read, “Today is a day to reflect on the loss of life and property during last year’s #EndSARS protests. We appreciate the work done by the various judicial panels and look forward to the implementation of recommendations and compensation to victims of police brutality. We support ongoing police reform efforts. We encourage those who demonstrated for change to engage politically to achieve it.”
In commemoration of the first anniversary of the #EndSARS protests of October 10, 2020, protesters have taken to the streets of major cities in the country to honour the lives of the fallen heroes.
Although the protests were without hitches in Abuja, policemen in Lagos arrested and assaulted several protesters at the Lekki tollgate.
