Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally released Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana after spending three nights in its custody.
Gatekeepers News reports that Abuja-based business mogul, Obi Cubana has finally regained his freedom after being grilled for alleged money laundering and tax fraud by the EFFC for 3 nights.
The Spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed Cubana’s release said he was released on Thursday evening.
Uwujaren wrote, “He has been released.”
EFCC invited the 46-year-old nightlife boss for interrogation on Monday and detained him thereafter.
On Tuesday, his friend and colleague, Onwumelu Valentine, claimed the socialite had been released from custody.
Valentine who announced this via his Instagram page, wrote, “Thank u, Jesus!! @obi_cubana is free. We gat Jesus!!! . Dis Dance is for all my fans. I love u all.”
However, Gatekeepers News gathered that the claim was false and the socialite was still in EFCC custody.
Obi Cubana’s detention had elicited different reactions, as many Nigerians including celebrities registered their views on various social media platforms.
2Baba, Peter Okoye, Ubi Franklin, Cubana Chief Priest, and other celebrities had earlier joined to demand the release of the businessman using the hashtag #FreeObiCubana.
