Capsized canoes have killed nine students in Ghana.
Gatekeepers News reports that nine junior high school students have drowned after two canoes capsized on a river in the Northern Region of Ghana on Friday.
The Police while confirming this on Saturday told Xinhua that about 31 students were on the canoes, which they used to cross the Oti River to a farm.
Northern Regional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Bernard Baba Ananga, said two canoes capsized on their way back.
Ananga said, “Rescuers managed to retrieve seven bodies, and a search is underway for another two that are still missing.’’
The Police further stated that an investigation is underway.
