United Kingdom is set to scrap the red list it introduced afterthe outbreak of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Gatekeepers News reports that the United Kingdom is set to reduce travel restrictions and scrap the controversial red list which came back into use after the outbreak of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Since the British government instituted the fresh restrictions, there has been outrage from countries placed on the red list, many of which were African countries like Nigeria.
The Nigerian government in a leak audio obtained by the Gatekeepers News said it would place the UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia on its travel ban list on Tuesday.
A UK based newspaper, Daily Mail, reports that the Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, had been able to convince his colleagues that the restrictions should be replaced with testing for the fully vaccinated.
The report added that the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, had promised to reexamine the UK’s policy following claims that it was unfair and ineffective.
According to the report, The proposal to reduce the travel restrictions is expected to be approved this week.
