Why My Husband Jumped Into Lagoon — Lekan Odunare’s Wife

Sofiat Amusa, wife of Lekan Odunare, who jumped into the lagoon has revealed reasons for his action.

Gatekeepers News reports that wife of the 25-year-old man who committed suicide by jumping into the Lagoon in the Epe area of Lagos, South West Nigeria, Sofiat Amusa, said her husband acted strangely before his death.

The late Lekan was a holder of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) certificate from the Department of Quantity Surveying at the Lagos State Polytechnic, and a worker at Alaro City, a mega estate along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Gatekeepers News had earlier reported that Lekan Odunare, jumped into the Lagos Lagoon and died in the process on Tuesday.

In the video circulating on social media, Lekan could be seen sitting on the rails of a bridge before plunging into the waters.

Before he dived in, a man filming the scene was heard querying his intention.

Lekan, who looked distressed, did not answer any of the questions before jumping into the lagoon.

However, Many social media users have wondered why the man behind the camera made no effort to save him.

Sofiat said,“Depression and frustration of not being attended to by his parents contributed to my husband’s death.”

She added that they have an 11-month-old daughter together before his demise.
