Oromoni: Court Grants 5 Detained Dowen College Students N1m Bail Each

Court has granted five detained Dowen College students charged with the alleged murder of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr a N1 million bail each.

Gatekeepers News reports that a magistrates court in Yaba, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria has admitted the five Dowen College students charged with the alleged murder of Oromoni, their schoolmate, to a N1 million bail each.

On December 9, the defendants were remanded in a juvenile home over the death of their schoolmate who was alleged to have been attacked in a case of bullying while in school.

The police charged the boys who are minors with conspiracy and homicide.

The Chief Magistrate, Olatunbosun Adeola after hearing the bail application from the defendants’ counsel, ordered the defendants to produce two sureties each in like sum.

Adeola stated that one of each of the defendants’ sureties must be their parent, and must swear an affidavit of compliance.

The Chief Magistrate further held that the international passports of all the defendants must be submitted to the court.

She noted that their homes must be verified by the prosecutor, adding that they must stay within 2km of their residences at all times.

The defence counsels Ifeoma Eson, A.E. Amah, Godwin Omoaka (SAN), Eze Ajibo, and Micheal Ayinla were in court for the minors.
