Gatekeepers News reports that Arsenal on Friday announced that their manager, Mikel Arteta, has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 39-year-old Spaniard earlier criticised the Premier League following the postponements of several fixtures due to COVID-19, calling for more clarity and transparency, stating that it was vital to maintain the fairness of the competition.
In a statement, the Gunners announced that “Mikel Arteta will miss our match against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after testing positive for COVID-19.
“Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well.”
Arteta, who contracted the virus at the start of the pandemic, has encouraged people to take up the vaccine.
