I’ve Been Performing Every Day Since October – Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr has said she has been performing since October.

Gatekeepers News reports that Ayra Starr, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, says she has been performing every day since in response to critics who have continually questioned her vocal prowess.

The ‘Away’ crooner took to social media on Tuesday to counter the claims that she cannot sing. She also explained why her voice appears to be “strained” recently.

“My lovesss, I’ve been performing almost every day since October, of course, my voice is strained, I be human being,” she wrote.

Starr also made it clear that despite her “strained” voice, she is still very much talented.

“So please dead that Ayra Starr cannot sing bs, dead it fast fast. It’s all talent and grace here baby,” she added.

The 19-year-old songwriter signed to Mavin Records in 2020 and released her debut self-titled EP in January 2021.

She also released ’19 and Dangerous’, her first studio album, in August. The body of work houses an endearing but arrogant single titled ‘Bloody Samaritan’.

Starr was nominated in the ‘Best African Act’ category for the 2021 Mobo Awards alongside Wizkid, Davido, Burna boy.
