Edo State Police Command has confirmed second death in the abduction of the State Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Abdulhamid Baba-Saliu who is popularly known as Baba Petrol.
Gatekeepers News had earlier reported that the Edo State IPMAN Chairman was kidnapped on Monday at the entrance to his house in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government, Edo State, South-South Nigeria.
One of his drivers was shot and killed immediately, while his second driver who was driving a backup car and a security operative sustained injuries from gun shots.
In an update, the State Police said the second surviving driver eventually succumbed to bullet injuries he suffered.
“I got the news that the driver of the second vehicle, who was severely injured in the attack, is dead. The chairman’s family has yet to be contacted.
“We hope that the bush-combing exercise will lead to the rescue of the victim and arrest of his abductors,” Bello said.
