Former DESOPADEC Commissioner Okolugbo Declares Ndokwa/Ukwuani Reps Ambition

Former Commissioner, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), ken Okolugbo has declared his ambition to run for a seat at the House of Representatives.

At an interactive session with Ukwani LGA Working Committee which was monitored by Gatekeepers News, Omiefome 1 of Umuebu Kingdom, Okolugbo declared his intention to represent Ukwuani/Ndokwa at the green chamber and admonished them to continue supporting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to finish strongly.

The event came up in the country home of Mr Okolugbo and visitors didn’t leave empty-handed as they were given transport fares while the elders present were supported with a sum of money. The sum of N1.85m was given to Ukwuani Ward Working Committee members & serving Councillors. Ndokwa East Ward Working Committee members also got a sum of N1m while Ndokwa West, Ndokwa East & Ukwuani Local Government Areas’ PDP executive members got N1.2M.

The working committee members and others supported expressed joy and satisfaction with the gesture from Mr Okolugbo and prayed for a successful run in his ambition to represent the Ndokwa nation at the National Assembly.

Okolugbo Declares Ndokwa reps Ambition

Recall that Mr Okolugbo, representing Ndokwa had said on the 24th of June 2021 that “Ndokwa East is always eventful anytime I visit. The interaction with the fifty-man working committee of my party was quite revealing in my further quest to continue to consult with the delegates,”

He was accompanied on the day by Hon Chidi Accra ranking member of the legislative arm Ukwuani, Rt Hon Matthias Okonye Deputy Leader of the Legislative arm, Hon Kizito Akinima member representing Umuebu in the legislative arm, Mchenry Abadoni Vice Chairman ward 9, Ada Okuneye Former Deputy Woman Leader Delta North, Ogbuefi Robert Efe Patriarch of PDP UkwuaniLGA Comrade Tony Ndu Ojieh President General of Utagba Ogbe Youth Association, community, amongst others.

He told them of his plans to attract developmental projects to Ndokwa West and stressed that Kwale is a huge cosmopolitan town in a LGA that is a producer of crude oil hosting many multinational & indigenous oil communities. He also reminded them that the slot given to him by the governor of the state was handed to Ndokwa West to show he will carry all the three local government areas along when he becomes a member of the National Assembly representing the good people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani.

“Ndokwa East has been deprived of so much despite the huge resources they produce. Flood devastation yearly and when they are not below sea level. We can sand-fill on a massive scale. Power transmitted to National Grid from Okpai 450 megawatts without being stepped down in the entire LGA. I remember this fight started 2004 yet the second phase is yet to commence. Large quantity of gas & crude oil of Brent quality being sold in millions of barrels. One can go on and on. The road network and difficulty to reach communities like Onu Aboh, Umuolu, Onogbokor, Lagos Iyede etc and lack of FEDERAL presence cannot be overemphasized.

“Lawmaking inclusive of oversight functions is not a panacea to stop the attraction of Infrastructural development to this Local Govt. Legacy projects are needed badly and so is the genuine empowerment of the people. We will do the utmost very soon,” he said.  A token of One million Naira was given to the 50-man committee.

The discussions held with Mr. Okolugbo on the forth coming primaries of the PDP was one that gave the committee and electorates a direction. The Chairman of the party Eng Patrick Kaine echoed that he is the only aspirant from Ukwuani so far to have indicated interest. The former DESOPADEC Commissioner was also grateful to the committee for heeding his request.

This meeting was a sequel to the selected LEADERS meeting of the UKWUANI PDP held at the Very Rev. Okolugbo Hall on the 21st of December 2021. He gave notebooks and rewarded the 18-man Exco for accepting his call. Sixteen members of the committee were in attendance while the Vice Chairman & Women leader took an excuse.
