The Lagos State Government has said it will increase the number of boats and construct more terminals to open up other areas of the state to water transportation.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Managing Director, LagFerry, Mr Abdoulbaq Balogun, said this in a statement.

Balogun said that this would decongest road traffic.

He added that the agency would continue to partner with entertainment managers to promote the tourism sector.

The statement read in part, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is committed to increasing the number of boats and constructing more terminals to open up other areas to water transportation as encapsulated in the Traffic Management and Transportation of the THEMES agenda and as a viable means of decongesting the road traffic.

“I want to assure you that the agency will continue to partner with tourism companies and entertainment managers to showcase the tourism potentials of the state.

“We are committed to continuing this tradition of entertainment, tourism and more as it relates to one of the pillars of this administration’s agenda. Our barge, MV Adimu Orisa, is available for members of the public to charter for events like weddings, birthdays and shows.”
