President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar as the substantive Rector for Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi.
Gatekeepers News reports that Umar formally assumes the position of the new Rector for Auchi Polytechnic on a substantive basis following the vacancy created by the demise of Dr Momodu Sanusi Jimah (immediate past Rector) in October 2020.
The Polytechnic Spokesman, Mustapha Oshiobugie made this known in a statement available to newsmen in Benin on Monday.
Although the institution has had two others in acting capacity between October 2020 and February 2022, Umar was announced as the substantive Rector.
Prior to his appointment, Umar, a Chief Lecturer holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
He began his academic career with the Auchi Polytechnic in 1994 and rose steadily to become a Chief lecturer.
While at the Polytechnic he has served as departmental head; Asst Dean (Administration) School of Evening Studies, Asst Director, Poly Consult, Director Centre for Research, Innovation & Development CRID amongst others.
Umar joined the Services of Kaduna Polytechnic as a Chief Lecturer in 2018 a position from which he got his new appointment.
He is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigeria Statistical Association; Nigeria Statistical Society; International Research and Development Institute.
Other professional bodies he belongs to are the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria; the International Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists and the Institute of Management Consultants.
He is a Fellow of the Centre for Public Service Productivity and Development and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants.
Umar has at various times served as moderator and external examiner to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, and the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna.
Also to his credit are many academic publications in several National and International journals.
