President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned the new multi-purpose sports complex at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the new multi-purpose sports complex comprises a mini-stadium, basketball, volleyball, handball, and tennis courts, with three seating pavilions.
The former Senior Executive Course participant, Tony Aletor, who is also the Group Chairman, Capital Express Holdings Limited donated the sports complex to NIPSS.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor, while presenting President Buhari unveiled the complex named ‘Professor Habu Galadima Sports Complex’; in memory of the late Director-General of the institute
Irabor applauded the philanthropist for his gesture, pointing out that the facility will further help to stabilise participants at the elite institute.
The CDS, therefore, challenged participants and the entire NIPSS community to take advantage of the facilities to keep fit and healthy, stating that there was the need to recreate and interact with one another after strenuous research
Aletor, in his remarks, said a conversation between the late Director-General of the Institute Prof Habu Galadima inspired the construction of the complex.
He added that his successor Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Udaya (retd.) gave all the support required towards completion of the project.
Aletor said, “In addition to the sports facilities to ensure the convenience of participants and the entire NIPSS community, four hygienic and convenient toilets were added to the facilities.
“When I came here as a participant, I discovered that the environment was secured, but there were no centralised sporting facilities. I discussed with the late Prof Habu Galadima and we agreed that all the sports facilities scattered within the institute should be put in one location, hence my determination to build this complex.”
