Ukraine’s central bank has banned payments to entities in Russia and Belarus.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ukraine’s apex bank on Friday banned all operations involving both nations’ currencies.
Similarly, EU leaders have agreed to sanctions on Moscow that target 70 percent of the Russian banking market and key state-owned companies, including in defence, according to a tweet by EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.
The development is in response to Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine by land, air and sea following President Vladimir Putin’s announcement on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said no fewer than 137 civilians and military personnel have been killed in the country on the first day of the Russian invasion while 316 others are left wounded.
