Plane Carrying 132 Passengers Crashes 

4 Confirmed Dead As Military Plane Crashes 
A passenger plane carrying 132 people has crashed in southwest China.

Gatekeepers News reports that a Boeing 737 plane crashed in the countryside near Wuzhou city in the Guangxi region on Monday and there is no information about any casualties as of the time of filing this report.

The incident “caused a mountain fire”, according to local media, adding that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the crash could not be ascertained immediately.

Local media reported that China Eastern flight MU5735 had not arrived at its scheduled destination in Guangzhou after it took off from the city of Kunming shortly after 1:00 pm (0500 GMT) on Monday, citing airport staff.

The flight-tracking ended at 2:22 pm (0622 GMT) an altitude of 3225 feet with a speed of 376 knots.

It had been due to land at 3:05 pm (0705 GMT).

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has also confirmed the incident saying 132 people including nine crew and 123 passengers were on board.

The CAAC said the aircraft lost contact with the city of Wuzhou.

“Emergency mechanism has been activated, and a working group has been dispatched to the scene,” CAAC said in a statement.
